One of my favorite digital economy resources on this planet is Dan Koe. One statement he repeats is: "Branding is what you do, product is how you do it and marketing is why you do it."
As Zach and I were first starting out we aimed to develop a logo that encompassed what we do and why we do it. Out of that pursuit, the Myndbeatz wing was born. Zach and I agree on 2 things:
During the best times in our lives, that were a result of experiences in baseball, fatherhood, world travel and coaching, we felt like we could fly.
We want to create mindset music that will inspire and assist people in creating more experiences in their lives that make them feel the same way.
As our vision for Myndbeatz began to unfold the wing below became our pursuit, our product and our brand. We love the way it looks on Myndbeatz products and we are motivated by what it means for us and our listeners.

"Branding is what you do, product is how you do it and marketing is why do you do it."

Anyone who has played sports competitively has had high highs and low lows. Over the course of my career, playing 3 sports in high school and at the college level and 5 seasons of professional baseball I've had many amazing moments and lots of tough ones too. One moment where I felt like I could fly was the first time I ever dunked a basketball in a game. This happened at Hermiston High School in Oregon in 1997. I was a Junior in high school, when I got the ball on the break, I had no plans of going up and dunking, but the adrenaline kicked in and I took off on my right foot, turned the ball over and hammered a left-hand jam. It truly was an out of body experience. When I watched - over and over - on video later, I still couldn't believe it was me.
This experience is a core memory for multiple reasons. Firstly, that fall I had taken the football season off and worked solely on improving my speed and jumping ability through the use of Jumpsoles (http://www.jumpusa.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=1001A&Store_Code=J) and in that moment the hard work paid off in a big way. I had emulated my favorite athletes (Michael Jordan and Walter Payton) my whole life and now here I was doing things athletically that I dreamed of as a kid.
Secondly, the mind shift I experienced in that moment changed who I was as an athlete. Once my mind realized what I was capable of I went from being a good rebounder and a white boy who jump a little bit to a high flyer, launching and dunking alley-oops with ease, and dunking in games consistently. This is when I first began to understand the power of the mind in sports performance, when we know we've put in the work necessary to achieve what we desire and believe, we are free to pursue our goals with God speed!
Sports is not the only area of life we cover with Myndbeatz and the feeling of flying is not limited to athletics. Becoming a father gives every dad to the opportunity to create moments of bliss and excitement through the raising of his children! When we begin to look at fatherhood as a chance to be a hero, teacher, coach and motivator we can help our children aim for higher goals, achieve incredible things and build wonderful lives that extend our lineage. In doing so, we create memories for ourselves that enrich our lives and complete the cycle family life.
The birth of your first child is something that cannot be described with words. The emotions that fill your spirit are so strong and pure, all you can do it live it and take it in, there are few other moments in life where a dad is as speechless. I've had this experience twice, with two sets of twins, and here in about 6 weeks I get to do it one last time when we welcome our fifth child, our first in almost 9 years.
I cannot choose one moment in my fatherhood journey to illustrate the way being a dad makes you feel like you can fly. I'll just give you a line from our song Hero Dad:
There is no greater motivation for a man to take control of himself, than the arrival of his offspring, the continuing of his lineage, family is wealth.
I've been filled with life-changing level of joy and peace while watching my children sing, play, learn, compete, create and build relationships. Every single morning that I see them it feels like I'm seeing a piece of heaven.
Second to teaching and coaching my own children, comes teaching and coaching other people's kids. I coach 365 days/year, volunteering my time across a wide range of team sports, personal lessons and speaking events. I have seen kids grow, change, evolve, solve problems and surmount obstacles. I've built life-long relationships through coaching and still hear from athletes I've worked with in the past.
During the social upheaval of 2020-2021 I was operating a training facility at my hobby farm in Oregon. As the business was growing, because I was the only place where kids could come train, I met youngster after youngster. Their schools were closed, their world was shut down and they were all struggling mentally. One particular kid named Asher came to my farm and changed my life forever. After one trip to Crushlife Acres, he was addicted. I worked with Asher day and night, rain or shine for almost 2 years. Over the course of my time with him he learned the value of hard work, began to believe in himself, lost weight and took responsibility for his life. His parents continued to text me about how he had changed, how he was happier than ever, doing chores without being asked, getting his homework done and even doing extra running on their treadmill. I'll never forget when I had to break the news to Asher that we decided to move, sell the farm and shut down the training facility. We were both in tears thinking back about how we worked and developed together; Asher as an young man, me as a coach and both of us a individual people.
Fast-forward 3 years, Asher is starting on his Varsity baseball and basketball teams as a freshman, lifting 3 days/week and competing in mud runs as a physical side hustle. Last year, his mother texted me to let me know he had listed me as his most inspirational person at his 8th grade graduation. THIS MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I CAN FLY.
No matter what season it is, at every practice I coach, I have the same opportunity to positively affect young men...this just never gets old. I don't need caffeine to coach, I just need players who are ready to work. I wish I could do it for a living, maybe someday.
